QubiTO Quantum Days
Three days at the Politecnico for the centenary of quantum mechanics, with Riccardo Adami, Scott Aaronson and a workshop on the Lagrange quantum computer.
To celebrate the first centenary of quantum mechanics, the QubiTO student team at Politecnico di Torino organised QubiTO Quantum Days, a three-day event on the evolution of quantum thought, from its theoretical origins to the emerging technologies of the second quantum revolution.
The event gathered students, researchers and enthusiasts of quantum science and engineering to look back on a century of discoveries and toward the future of quantum engineering, along a path joining history, research and practical application. All the talks were in English, and the event could also be followed online.
Program
12 November: the origins of quantum mechanics
Room 11T, 18:30–20:00.
Opening by the QubiTO board with Prof. Matteo Cocuzza (Coordinator of the M.Sc. in Quantum Engineering) and Prof. Bartolomeo Montrucchio (QubiTO Advisor).
Prof. Riccardo Adami (DISMA, Politecnico di Torino), Quantum Mechanics: From Heresy to Para-Dogma, and Back: a lecture retracing a century of discoveries and fundamental concepts, highlighting the most fascinating historical and theoretical aspects.
13 November: the challenge of quantum supremacy
Room 29B, 17:30–19:00.
Prof. Scott Aaronson (University of Texas at Austin), The TRUTH about Quantum Computing: a technical online talk on the foundations and perspectives of quantum computing and quantum supremacy.
14 November: Quantum Workshop @ Lagrange
Room 29B, 17:30–19:00.
Dr. Emanuele Dri (Politecnico di Torino), Quantum Workshop with Lagrange: a hands-on workshop with simulations and live demonstrations on Lagrange, the quantum computer of Politecnico di Torino, in collaboration with the QubiTO team.
